Making Gains Joe.... but not your brothers.

Joe has had a busy week....

Last Wednesday was the date that Joe would have been induced had we stayed in Rapid with the doctor that delivered Jake & Lizzy as they are adamant about 39 weeks.
10 pounder? Preeclampsia for sure? I can't even imagine.

TODAY IS HIS DUE DATE!!

Joe's week included his 1st wound care appointment....

They had the iLex (probably not spelled like an apple product) that the team of doctors wanted, in stock. They measured and photographed his wounds and showed exactly how they wanted a diaper change to go......it takes around 15 whole minutes to accomplish, and around 3 rounds of being pooped on, since if you apply 3 layers of various goo to a baby's butt, they are prompted to poop at each one, restart, restart, restart, race the poo.

The ladies all loved on him as their usual clientele are geriatrics. Their doorway sign alludes to as much....

Next appointment was Thursday with his doctor. His weight hadn't gone up but .01 & still rounded to the same 7lbs 1oz which now that he was days older, led him to fall further in percentage. We spoke of his spitting up and upset tummy after feedings and decided to start some acid reflux meds & doc wanted 1 feeding a day of Nuetrmagin......NOOOOoooooo. Gross.

i. Can. Not. Stand. That. Stuff.

Another similarity to Zach as he ended up on it for allergy to cow milk protein & severe acid and colic. Those were some loooooong nights, and trying days.

Anyhow, Joe reacts to it with smelly & copious amounts of spit up. I can not say I have been religious in this endeavor. However, at his next appointment, he was up to 7lbs 11oz yesterday 8/14 with only having had it a couple of times. Hoping we are okay to be done with it at his next appointment tomorrow. YUCK!

His second wound care appointment yesterday had his tiny tush significantly improved. Unfortunately, we got some sad news on scarring. We were told that he will have permanent scarring, but it would be less noticeable by 2 years old. We were also told that even when the new skin grows over, it will be YEARS before it is even close to full strength. Throughout his diapered years it will be compromised & vulnerable and for life it will be more susceptible to sensitivity and infection.
So so sorry Joe!!!! Break my heart.

On another note, don't moon people, you'll be identifiable.

Joe had his first Walmart outing. Also his first Rapid trip.

Joe also went to his 1st movie. Slept through the whole thing. Zach & I got to go try the new luxury seating at the Spearfish theater. Wayne, Andy & Luke had gone to Infinity earlier in the summer, Meg was more Zach & I's style, so we waited for it.

Then Monday rolled around and it was time for Luke & Jake's tonsillectomies & adenoid removals. The surgeries went well and Jake had a great honeymoon period. You'd never have know the first 2 days that he had had surgery. Luke was a little more mopey, but still chatty & hungry....

......then Wednesday came

Wednesday, today, 48 hours after surgery, the day Wayne & I attempted to be contributing members of society again.... RED FLAG RED FLAG, Murphy's Law, doing the dance, 1 step forward, 2 steps back continues.....

Luke wakes up with a bloody pillow & gagging & puking up blood! Gross!!!!! But you know I took pictures, which this day in age, the doctors almost always are interested to look at when you mention them. The nurse totally examined the state of his puked up blood, its contents, the amount and clarity. Wayne had already left for his first day of professional development/inservice & my daycare girl that started today was already on her way.

The post op instructions said that if more than a teaspoon of blood, call the ENT, then go to the ER. Ohhh heck NOOOoooo. Spearfish ER is NOT a good experience 9/10 times. I will praise every other aspect of that hospital, but not the ER - except the crew we got when Jake broke his tibia in 2 places mysteriously in February of 2015 & had it not been a Sunday or had we had urgent care back then I would not have done the ER, all the other trips there in the past 15 years were pure evil in scrubs- I will avoid the ER at all cost still. Sooooo it was very close to 8am and office hours by now. I called the ENT's number, someone actually answered, I left a message with her, she sounded alarmed & the ENT called back in 15 minutes, asked us to come in & he'd work us in.

This is the quietest I've ever seen this kid. He's not feverish but he's cold, they gave him a blanket & ice water for his wait.

Once the ENT comes in, he thinks its a clot, he does some suction then cauterizes the bleeding spot and gets Luke better pain management.

Filling that prescription was a nightmare. One little thing went wrong after the next. RED FLAGS RED FLAGS, slow us down, make me wonder what's next.

Next was Jake spiking a fever. That was on the "what to expect" list. Some Tylenol & ibuprofen & he was okay again, but grumpier all day. Honeymoon period over.

We got home in time to make lunch. Everyone's been troopers. Except Zach. He is determined to make everyone miserable by antagonizing & I'm sure he will soon get the brunt of months of stress. He was warned as much. A long bike ride, cross country practice & getting the ice cream he waited all day for still had him picking fights with Luke at the end of the day.

Seriously boy. Go. To. Bed. dumped the ice cream back in, none for him. Deep breaths.

Everyone in bed. New day tomorrow.

To those coming to the back to school sleepover, they are all still adamant it happens. The 2 who had surgery may just not make it as late as the others.

& don't mind the mess, for some reason I'm not making as much progress as hoped?
